Dale Killian, age 93, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015, joining his wife of sixty years, Waunita Eagen Killian. He was born January 1, 1922 in Pineville, Arkansas, the son of George and Annie Lackey Killian. He is survived by two sons, Charles Killian and his wife Sharon, and Karl Killian and two daughters, Paula Agee and Jean Ann Faires, all of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren, Jacob Killian, Jarell Booker, Lindsay Booker, Timothy Faires and his wife Heidi, Daniel and his wife Dasha Faires, Benjamin and his wife Whitney Faires, Alyssa Agee and Forest Agee; four great-grandchildren, Ellie Claire, Owen Dale, Boone and Jed Faires and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by son-in-law Rick Faires , and his six brothers and sisters. Dale was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Fayetteville for over 60 years. He served his country on LST 170, the "Green Dragon" in the South Pacific during WWII. He returned to the University of Arkansas on the GI Bill, graduating in 1948. Prior to his 50-year career as a realtor with United Farm Real Estate, Dale was employed as a County Agent in the University Cooperative Extension Service where he enjoyed assisting farm families and educating youth. Dale loved Fayetteville and served his community in many ways including: more than 50 years in the Rotary Club of Fayetteville, and was a Paul Harris Fellow; Washington County 4-H Board; Fair Board; Gideon's International; Habitat for Humanity; and, United Commercial Travelers. Dale's family greatly appreciates the love and care of the entire staff of Cane Hill Residence, especially Melanie and Randy Brewton, Wanda Hall, April Cantrell, and Cody. His final days were filled with dignity, love and peace. Visitation will be Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at First United Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville. Funeral service follows at 3 p.m., Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville or to any of the great organizations Dale cherished.
