Wayne Rubin Staton

Wayne Rubin Staton, 91, of Quitman, formerly of Cabot, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015. He was born July 15, 1923 in Lonoke to the late W.B. and Elvie Parker Staton. Wayne was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Cabot for many years. Later he became a member of Charity Missionary Baptist Church in Ward and most recently a member of Kaley Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Quitman. Mr. Staton served as a dedicated Deacon in all three churches. He also served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps and was a 55 year Master Mason in the Cabot Lodge #319. In addition to his parents, Mr. Staton was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor Gilbert Staton, a sister, Josie, and three brothers; Doyne, Bobby and Lynn. Mr. Staton is survived by his children, Darrel (Joni) Staton, Brenda Hartline and Earl (Debbie) Staton; four brothers, Joe Staton, Harold (Dean) Staton, Bill (Wanda) Staton and Richard (Pat) Staton; three sisters, Vivian (Royal C.) Burt, Nettie (Wayne) Pearson and Jeanette (Wayne) Krischke; one sister-in-law, Patricia Staton; two uncles; one aunt; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends. The family would like to thank Cleburne County Hospice. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday May 12, 2015. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home with burial following at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
