Johnie Verlon Arnold

Johnie Verlon Arnold, born June 17, 1923 and departed this world May 9, 2015. He was a WWII Veteran who received four Bronze Stars and the French Medal of Honor. He was at the invasion of Normandy, Southern France, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa and was aboard the flag ship USS Bayfield during his service in the Coastguard. He was very proud of his service to his country. Upon returning from the war, he met and married Mary Emma Hickman on March 5, 1948. During their marriage, they had four daughters: Charlene Arnold; Janet Robertson (Robb); Linda June Perez; Shelley Andrews (Robby). He has three grandsons, three granddaughters, and several foster granddaughters. He also leaves behind a sister, Vetria Rexroad of Wisconsin and a brother, Millard Arnold of Illinois. and two friends he called his daughters; Kyla Hill and Tina Higgins. He was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved to farm, fish, garden and eat ice cream. He was an active member of Mt Carmel Church in Vilonia, Arkansas where he loved to sing bass. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the girls at the Strong Heart Clinic at Arkansas Heart Hospital and Dr. Rollefson for an extra three years with dad. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday May 14, 2015 at Mt Carmel Church in Vilonia, Arkansas. Viewing one hour prior.
