David L. Jackson

David L. Jackson, 74, passed away at his home in Mayflower on Saturday, May 16, 2015. He was born on May 14, 1941 in Quitman, Arkansas. Davis was a graduate of Conway High School where he was a member of the Spanish Club and the High School Marching Band. He also was a member of the Arkansas National Guard. After some studies at Arkansas State Teachers College, David pursued his license in Cosmetology, which led to a long and successful career in Los Angeles and North Little Rock, where he opened his own salon in Park Hill. David was talented in many areas of the arts, including his special gift as a pianist. He held dear to his heart a passion for Mexico and the culture of its people, where he often traveled. He especially loved visiting small villages where he made many friends and taught English to the local residents while furthering his study of Spanish. This caring and loving son, brother, uncle and friend, was preceded in death by his parents Oliver Wendell Tackett and Beatrice Christine Gunn Tackett and his brothers, Truman Gunn Jackson and Gary Wendell Tackett. He leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Sarah Tackett of Scott, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Carolyn "Ag" Jackson of Fairbanks, Alaska; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime clients he considered family; and as his special friends Mike and Nancy Lanford of Mayflower. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 3 p.m. in the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home Chapel in Conway. The visitation will be held at 2 p.m., prior to the service.
