James "Jim" Bales, 87, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, died May 18, 2015, at Butterfield Trail Village Health Care, Fayetteville, Arkansas. Born December 23, 1927 in Langdon, North Dakota, he was the son of Gahlen and Eva (Plummer) Bales. His mother moved around to many places and he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Harvey and Hilda Bales. Jim graduated from Jefferson High School, San Antonio, Texas. He was a Navy veteran. After the Navy he worked for the Milwaukee Railroad as a telegrapher and tower man, he then got his real estate license and had his own office. Jim married Rose Mary (Bretz) Lavey and they moved to Siloam Springs and owned and operated the Watts Discount Center. After Rose Mary's death in 1991, he and Sue Bailey were married and they moved to Butterfield Trail Village. She preceded him in death. Jim married Ann Roberts on December 23, 2012, and continued to live very happily. Survivors include his wife Ann of the home; sons Reed Bales and wife Jeannie of Wyzata, Minnesota and Kevin Bales of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and two grandchildren Jake and Josie. Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with the Rev. Jan Butin officiating. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Arkansas. To sign the online guest book, visit www.wassonfuneralhome.com.
