Michael Eugene Collie, 54, of Fayetteville, Ark. passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015 in Winslow, Ark. He was born November 18, 1960 in Tulsa, Okla. to Neil and Mary Lou (Mertel) Collie, who have preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Sara. They were married on May 6, 1995. He is also survived by two sisters, Anita King of Mountain Home, Ark., and Marjorie (Richard) Alejandro of San Jose, Calif. One niece, Kristi (Tim) Seawright of Mountain Home, Ark. and five nephews, Richard (Candace) King, Jesse and Robert Alejandro, Joshua and Jacob Walburn, along with great-nieces Emma-Kate and Sydney and one great-nephew, Ben. Michael is also survived by his parents in-law, Ron & Peggy Treadway and sister-in-law, Jennifer (Scott) Walburn. He will be missed by many wonderful friends and colleagues. Michael grew up in Mountain Home, Arkansas, and graduated from Mountain Home High School. Michael Collie attended seminary before he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology & Sociology from the University of Arkansas in 1983. He received his Masters in Social Work degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1998. He was the Director of the undergraduate Social Work Program (BSW) and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas. He was also co-owner of Collie Clinical Consulting in Fayetteville, Ark. Michael has worked in the field of Social Work for over 30 years. During that time, he was the Clinical Director of three hospitals and six outpatient clinics including Western Arkansas Counseling and Guidance Center, Vista Health and Ozark Guidance. He was a Sundancer who was proud of his Native American heritage. Always sincere, Michael was authentic, kind-hearted and generous of spirit. He never met a stranger. Michael's unmistakable laugh gave joy to everyone who heard it. He enjoyed deep and long lasting friendships. Michael had a lifelong love of music, playing drums, flute and piano. He will be missed by all who knew him and never forgotten. Memorial services will be held at the University of Arkansas in Old Main, Giffels Auditorium, 416 N. Campus Dr. Fayetteville, Ark., at 5:30 p.m. on May 22, 2015. A reception will follow.
