Robert Jay Adams, age 65, of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Adams was born April 4, 1950, in Peoria, Illinois, a son of the late Robert James and Julia Rountree Adams. Mr. Adams was reared and received his education in Abington, Illinois, graduating from Abington High School in 1968. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Army and served twenty years, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. After returning home from active duty, he began working at the Pine Bluff Arsenal in the communications department, retiring after twenty one years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and had been Pack Leader of Cub Scout Pack 42, and was the assistant troop leader of Boy Scout Troop 100. He was also the cookie drive manager of his daughter's Girl Scout troop 6. He is survived by his wife, Ayn Freygang, whom he married September 30, 1977, in Georgia; a son, Sergeant Eli Adams of Sherwood; daughter, Hannah Adams of the United State Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland, brothers, Marty Adams of Florida and Gary Adams of Missouri; two sisters, Donna Stevenson (Jim) and Julie Castle of Illinois. A Mass of Christian Burial will said Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church by Father Frank DuPreez assisted by Deacon Noel F. "Bud" Bryant. Burial will be in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at 1 p.m. by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. A Chaplet of Devine Mercy service will be said Monday evening at 6 p.m. at Robinson's with visitation to follow. Online register:www.ralphrobinsonandson.com.
