James Franklin Hackney Sr.

James Franklin Hackney Sr., 74, of Pine Bluff, Ark., died Friday, May 22, 2015, in Little Rock. He was born July 24, 1940, in Star City, to Reginald and Ercell Scifres Hackney. He was reared and educated in Star City, graduating from Star City High School. Mr. Hackney served in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was of the Methodist faith. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 40 years of service as a machinist. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Bettye Hager Hackney, whom he married on August 31, 1962, in Pine Bluff; a son, James Franklin Hackney Jr. of Star City; daughters, Misty Gaston (Jack) of Roland, Debbie Drake (Shannon) of Star City; a brother, Roger Dale Hackney of Star City; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 11:30 to 12:30 Wednesday, at Robinson's Funeral Home Graveside service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Memorial Park Cemetery with Minister Carl Holloway officiating.
