Shirley J. Walker

Shirley Jehlen Walker of Texarkana, Texas passed from this life, Thursday, May 21, 2015 in Texarkana, Texas. Shirley was born August 13, 1935 in Pine Bluff, Ark. to Elmo and Gertrude Jehlen. Shirley and husband Robert had previously been residents of Stuttgart, Ark. where they owned and operated the weekly newpaper, The Stuttgart Standard and had also been residents of Texarkana, Texas, Tulsa, Okla. and Rogers, Ark. Shirley leaves behind to cherish her memory, two sons: Michael Walker and wife Patt of Rogers, Ark., and John Walker and Wife Rhonda of Humphrey, Ark. and one daughter, Brenda Stockmann and husband Bernhard of Texarkana, Texas. Shirley will forever remain in the hearts of her eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Charles Rex Jehlen of Warren, Texas. Shirley will be missed by all that knew her and the many whose lives she impacted, including, nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and loved ones. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert E. Walker, her parents, Elmo and Gertrude Jehlen, one brother, John "Jack" Jehlen and his wife Mary Ellen; sister-in-law Nancy Jo Jehlen; sister-in-law Dorothy Jones, brother-in-law Herman Jones; nephew John Jehlen Jr, and one great grandson, Collin Free. Shirley's life celebration will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the Waldron First Baptist Church in Waldron, Ark. Interment will follow in the Sehorn Cemetery. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Ark. Shirley's pallbearers will be Brent Ventres, Michael Niemeyer, Rodney Free, Shane Stewart, Jason Blood, Mark Ward, Phillip Ward and Robert May. Shirley's visitation will be Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Ark.
