Bob Porter

Mr. Bob Porter, 84, of Ashdown, Ark., passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 in a Texarkana, Texas hospital. Bob was born April 29, 1931 to Mid J. and Hattie Porter in Kirby, Ark. Bob was a member and deacon of Central Baptist Church in Ashdown, Ark. He was retired from Arkansas State Police after 30 years of service and then served as Chief of Police in Ashdown for 10 years. Through the years, Bob was involved in many civic activities in the community such as past President of the Ashdown Kiwanis Club, Chairman of the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Ashdown City Park Board, Board of Arkansas Western District Drug Task Force;and the Arkansas State Police Association. He is preceded in death by one brother, Bill Porter. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jo Porter; two sons and daughter-in-law, Mike and Karen Porter of Ashdown, Ark. and David Porter of Texarkana, Ark.; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Pattie Porter of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Sue Breeding of Hope, Ark.; grandchildren, Justin Porter of Texarkana, Ark., Brandon Lewis of Ashdown, Ark., Brayden Porter of Ashdown, Ark., Tyler Porter of Ashdown, Ark., Addison Porter of Fort Worth, Texas, Reid Porter of Ashdown, Ark., Grayson Porter of Ashdown, Ark., Logan Porter; and great-granddaughter, Lainey Horton of Magnolia, Ark. Visitation will be Tuesday Evening May 26, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Madden Funeral Home in Ashdown, Ark. Funeral Services will be Wednesday May 27, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Central Baptist Church in Ashdown, Ark. with Rev. Tommy Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Ashdown Cemetery in Ashdown, Ark. under the direction of Madden Funeral Home in Ashdown, Ark.
