Barbara Evonne Vance, born July 3, 1935, age 79, just shy of her 80th birthday went to be with her Lord on May 25, 2015. She was born in West Point, Arkansas and grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas. She met the love of her life Charles Merlyn "Bo" Vance whom she married and spent 50 years of her life. She was a dedicated employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring after many years of service. She moved to Sheridan, Arkansas Delta circle where she lived for 26 years, later moving to Lonoke where she spent 13 years making many new friends. She took great pleasure in growing beautiful flowers which her yard displayed each year. She also grew a family on love and a bond that knit us close together. Baptist by choice, testimony of her life would be serving her Lord and Savior as a devoted wife, mother, friend and dedicated employee. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Atlanta, pastored by Charles Stanley. She not only faithfully listened to the word of God but studied and applied the word of God to her life teaching her daughters and others by example of her life, opening her heart to anyone who reached out to her. She is preceded in death by her mother Mildred Inez Smith, father, William Ray Smith, and her beloved husband Charles Merlyn Vance, leaving behind two daughters Kathy (Sam) Henry and Rhonda (Ronnie) Watson, three grandchildren, Kyle (Jessica) Watson, Laura Beth Henry and Kevin Watson, first cousin, who was more like a brother, Jimmie Dale Williams, and many other family and friends. While she will be dearly missed by those who loved her on earth we have the assurance of meeting her again in Heaven. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel, Lonoke with Funeral Services there Friday at 10 a.m., burial will follow in Brownsville Cemetery. www.boydfuneralhome.net.
