Larry Eugene Thompson, 72, of Austin, Arkansas, was born October 20, 1942 in Burlington, North Carolina, and he died Monday, May 25, 2015. He loved nature, and especially enjoyed boating the Little Red River and trout fishing. He served in the Air Force seven years and the Air National Guard for twenty-nine years as Command Chief Master Sergeant. Larry was a loving grandfather to his grandbabies. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty J. Thompson; his children, Randy A. Phillips of Arkansas, MaryAnne Malashevitz of Ohio, Pam Middleton of Florida, Shari Wiggins of Arkansas, Charles Phillips of Arkansas, and Lee Shuat of Florida; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his father, Ben Thompson; one brother, John Thompson; and one sister, JoAnne Thompson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Pickett Thompson. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or The American Cancer Society. Funeral will be 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with entombment in Meadowbrook Memorial Mausoleum.
