Ray A. Waters Jr., 76, of Searcy died Tuesday, May 26, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray A. Waters, of Texarkana. He is survived by one son, R. Allen Waters III of Little Rock and his wife, Rachele; one daughter, Mary Catherine Dixon of Searcy and her husband, James, and her three children, Cole, Bailey, and Hope Butler. He is also survived by two stepchildren, Tonya Stults and her husband, Tod of Little Rock and her daughter, Payton Hartford, and Todd Peebles of Augusta and his wife, Courtney and daughter, Regan. Ray was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, with a BSBA, and the UALR School of Law, with a JD. He served in the U.S. Army for two years as a Fire Control Platoon Leader in a Hawk Missile Battery in Germany. After he returned from the service, he worked in Little Rock for IBM as a Marketing Representative for several years, then for Worthen Bank as an Asst. Vice-President, then Systematics, Inc. as Vice-President, and Demographics, Inc. as President. In 2006, Ray was named a charter member of the Arkansas Academy of Computing at the U of A. After graduation from law school, he moved to Augusta in 1979 to enter private practice. At various times he served as City Attorney for Cotton Plant and Augusta, Municipal Judge, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney and Public Defender in the six-county First Judicial District. He was active in his community. Ray served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons at First Baptist Church of Augusta, Chairman of the Board of Legal Services of Northeast Arkansas, President of the Lions Club, President of the Rotary Club and President of Cypress Creek Country Club. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Augusta, Arkansas.
