George "Nick" Crowson

George N. "Nick" Crowson, age 75, of Arkadelphia, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015. He was born July 24, 1940 to the late Jewell and Helen Omega Crowson and raised in the Benton/Bauxite area. Being a talented dancer, Nick was known throughout the area for his dancing abilities, winning many dance contests throughout the state and in his travels during his military career. He will be remembered by many for his regular appearances on Steve's Show, a popular Little Rock television dance show hosted by Steve Stevens in the late 50's and early 1960's. Although retired from the U.S. Navy, he also served in the U.S. Marines and will be buried in the Veteran's Cemetery. Nick was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eugenia Ann Parsons; grandmother, Myrtle Biggs and a nephew, Robbie Bramblett. He is survived by his only child, a daughter, Melisa Nichole Crowson Shepherd; three grandchildren, Alan Shepherd, Andrew Shepherd and Stephanie Shepherd Ortiz; five great-grandchildren; sister, Toni Patricia Reeves and several nieces. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 15 at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, November 16 at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at 1501 West Maryland Ave. in North Little Rock. On-line guest book at www.ashbyfuneralhome.com.
