Cindy Stewart

Cindy Stewart of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away Saturday November 21, 2015 at the age of 58 after a courageous, hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born in Batesville, Ark. on October 11, 1957 to the late Jesse Thurman Skinner and Sue Skinner of Batesville. Cindy was a graduate of Batesville High School in 1976 and attended the University of Arkansas where she majored in Art. She was also a graduate of the Gem City School of Jewelry in Quincy, Illinois and received a Graduate Gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Santa Monica, California. Upon graduation from GIA she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she started her career in the jewelry industry. Cindy was the owner of Independent Diamond Inc. (IDI) and Southern Star Trading. Cindy made many lifelong friends and was highly respected in the jewelry business. She was also very involved in the Tulsa Soccer Club with her two sons and traveled throughout the United States to attend their games. She enjoyed every minute of these activities and counted the TSC families among her closest friends. Cindy was married to her childhood love and high school sweetheart, Danny Lynn Stewart of Tulsa, Okla. She was the beloved mother of sons, Sidney Porter Stewart of Tulsa, Okla. and Nathan Lee Stewart of Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a second mother to Victoria (Tori) Jane Lieberman of Tulsa, Okla. She is survived by her husband, her two sons and Tori; mother, Sue Skinner of Batesville, Ark.; brother, J.T. Skinner and his wife Karan Skinner of Batesville, Ark.; sister, Kitty Skinner Wilson and her husband Harold L. Wilson of Batesville, Ark.; nieces, Julie Anna Taylor of Little Rock, Ark., Jesse Freiert of Batesville, Ark. and Kitty Leigh Douglas of Searcy, Ark.; nephews, Zeke Wilson of Heber Springs, Ark., Woody Skinner of Cincinnati, Ohio and Jacob Tyler Wilson of Fayetteville, Ark. To know Cindy was to love her. Cindy's smile was always available and she brought happiness to all that knew her. We will miss her and that ever-present smile greatly. Cindy would want us to honor her by living our lives with the same zest and joyful enthusiasm she had for life. Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Batesville, Ark. Visitation will be in the church parlor at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2015; a celebration of Cindy's life will follow at 2 PM in the sanctuary.
