W. DANE CLAY, 87, was born Feb. 1, 1928 in Fort Smith, Ark. and passed away Nov. 24, 2015 in Little Rock, Ark. He was survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Ann, and his sister, Carolyn Thomas of Fort Smith, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ina Clay and W. Wesley Clay. Dane was a partner with the Rose Law Firm for over 50 years, served as Firm Treasurer and then became of counsel at the Rose Law Firm before his retirement. Dane served as Captain in the United States Air Force, J.A.G. from 1951-1954. He graduated from Fort Smith Junior College and received his L.L.B. from the University of Arkansas School of Law at Fayetteville in 1951 and was Editor-in-Chief of the Arkansas Law Review in 1951. He was a member of Phi Alpha Delta, Omicron Delta Kappa, the Pulaski County Bar Association, the Arkansas Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Dane was a Diamond Life Master in American Contract Bridge League. He was the former President of Little Rock Duplicate Bridge Club and was instrumental in doing the legal work that enabled the Bridge Club to be a charitable organization. He was well known for his devotion to the Razorbacks and traveled for years to most all home football and basketball games. He managed the Rose Law Firm's donations to the Razorback Foundation for decades. He and his wife were avid travelers and visited every continent except Antarctica. There will be no service and the arrangement of his cremation is under the direction of Roller-Chenal Funeral Home.
