David Sellers died September 29, 2015. Born October 28, 1930 as the only son of Eugene McElroy Sellers and Maxine (Stewart) Sellers in Holdenville, Oklahoma. He lived over 60 years in Capitol Hill area of Oklahoma City. He was the last owner and editor of the Capitol Hill Beacon newspaper. As the editor, he became an energetic voice for the community. He was named as the Outstanding Citizen for South Oklahoma City in 2009 and was honored by the Oklahoma Historical Society as an Oklahoma Pathmaker. In 2014, he and wife Gay moved to War Eagle, Arkansas. Cause of death was an unusual and aggressive form of Thyroid Cancer. He is preceded in death by his child, Walter Sellers. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gay Sellers. His three daughters, Cathy Sellers and Dr. Nancy Pearce (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Carolyn and Roger Farris (War Eagle, Ark.), Christine and David Hansel (Denton, Texas) along with six grandchildren (Jack Bond, Steven Bond, Cassandra Murray, Gary Farris, Shelly Walters and Noel Farris) and 10 great-grandchildren. The family request that donations be made to the Circle of Life Hospice of NWA. Arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.
