Steve King

Steve King passed away peacefully from this earth on Wednesday, October 7, 2015. He was born in Texarkana, Arkansas on December 17, 1953 to Robert W. and Elaine Burton King. Growing up in Texarkana he attended St. Edward's Catholic School and graduated from Arkansas High School in 1972. In 1976, Steve began Pharmacy School at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. This began his life in Little Rock, Arkansas where he would make his home for the next 39 years. His college years in Pharmacy School were some of his hippest times. He was a member of Phi Delta Chi Fraternity and made lifetime friends. He graduated in 1979 and practiced Pharmacy in Little Rock and at Helena Regional Medical Center. Steve leaves behind his love of 14 years, Janice Nottenkamper. Together they raised two very special rescue dogs, Festus and Roscoe, and two sweet cats, Sophie and Sadie. Steve loved nature and walking his dogs down at the Two Rivers Park. He is also survived by his beautiful daughter, Stephanie King Horton, her husband John and twin boys Kody and Jack, all of Greenwich, Conn. Steve was very proud of his daughter and enjoyed some memorable trips to New York City with her. Other survivors are his mother, Elaine Burton King, brothers, Mark King of Texarkana, Arkansas and Bobby King of Austin, Texas, sister, Therese Thomas of Lecanto, Florida. He is predeceased by his little brother, John King and his father, Bob King, who he was very close to. Visitation will be Friday, October 9, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 West 12th St. A funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 1 p.m. Memorials in Steve's memory may be made to CARE for Animals or the Pulaski County Humane Society.
