Floyd H. Barger, 81, passed away Oct. 9, 2015 in Fort Smith. Floyd was born July 14, 1934 in Lamar, Ark. to Dr. M.I. and Nettie Floyd Barger. He attended Fort Smith public schools, Arkansas Tech, and graduated from Westark Community College. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Floyd was retired as sales manager with Overhead Door Company after many years in the sales field. He was a longtime member and past president of the Fort Smith Southside Rotary, American Legion, Fort Smith Historical Society board member, Goddard Memorial Methodist Church, and driver/conductor for the Fort Smith Trolley Museum. Floyd loved music, especially the good ol' country music, and was an expert on the history of classic country recordings and stars. Lunching with the ROMEOS (Retired Old Men Eating Out), the good ol' boys, on Mondays at Furr's was a highlight of each week. His other loves were old cars, old dogs, and looking good. He is survived by his wife, Carole; two daughters, Vicki Diane Barger O'Brien and Vicki Lynne Crowly; two sons Mark Barger and Michael Crowly; son-in-law Nick Hensler; nine grandchildren: granddaughters, Tara O'Brien, Julia Crowly, Caitlin Hensler, Jeanne Hensler Herrington and grandsons, Derrick O'Brien, Aaron and Corey Barger, Chris Roblee, and Nicky Hensler; one sister, Betty Barger Hardwicke; and his sister-in-law, Linda Cotton Jennings and husband, Steve. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Laurie Crowly Hensler, and his beloved dog, Jack. A private family burial of cremains will be at Oak Cemetery before the memorial service. Memorial service will be held at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 13, at 11 a.m. The family will visit with friends following the memorial service. Services and cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
