Wilbur Ray Embry

Wilbur "Buddy" Embry, of Jacksonville, was born on July 5, 1932 in Shreveport, La. and passed away on October 10, 2015 in Cabot, Ark. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Martha Jones Embry; parents, John S. and Mary Ollie Embry; brother, John Stanley; sister, Janie Louise Rowland, and grand daughter, Sarah Caroline Embry. Buddy was a retired carpenter and spent his life sharing the teachings of the Bible with those around him. He was instrumental in the bus ministry at Queensborough Baptist Church in Shreveport. He spent over 30 years working in prison ministry in Louisiana and Arkansas. He faithfully attended Mount Zion Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Ark. where he taught Sunday school. He is survived by his family – Randy Embry and wife Lara, Bill Embry and wife Sharon and Steve Embry and wife Bonnie. Grandchildren are Ryan Embry, Tiffany Bledsoe, Michael Embry, Sarah Clark and Kelsey Harper along with 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, John "Deacon" Embry and wife Margaret and brother in law John Rowland and wife, Lou. Buddy is also survived by his nephew, Mike Gentry who faithfully checked on him and offered a helping hand whenever needed during the last few years of his life. Funeral services will be held at Stanfill Baptist Church, 12905 Fortson Rd., Jacksonville, Ark. at 11 a.m., on Thursday, October 14, 2015 with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.under the direction of Roller-Owens Funeral Home (501-791-7400) Interment will follow at Stanfill Cemetery.
