Lee Roy "Pedie" Cathey Sr., 85, of Thornton passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at his home. He was born July 27, 1930 in Calhoun County, Arkansas. Pedie and his brother OD owned and operated a Ford Tractor Dealership in Thornton. Pedie worked as a Calhoun County Deputy Sheriff, Thornton City Constable, and was a member of Thornton Volunteer Fire Department. Pedie was an avid fisherman and loved camping and enjoyed his yearly, enormous garden. He was a man that worked all the time and could fix anything. He is preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Ruth Anthony Cathey; brothers, Harold Lloyd, James Ray, Carl and Bobby Cathey; and one sister, Eleanor Ruth Allred. Pedie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Peggy Lacewell Cathey of Thornton; four children, Libby Coates (Paul) of Thornton, Becky Heatherly (Eugene) of Fordyce, Mary Dell Harper (Tommy) of Thornton, Lee Roy Cathey, Jr. of Thornton; one brother, OD Cathey (Sara) of Fordyce; three grandchildren, Tom Cook (Dana) of Benton, Michelle Timmermans (Steve) of Fayetteville, Brae Harper (Candace) of Fayetteville; two great-grandchildren, Riggs Harper of Fayetteville and Lauren Cook of Benton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thornton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 196, Thornton, Ark. 71766 or Bethel Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 137, Bearden, Ark. 71720. Visitation will be Thursday 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel Cemetery near Bearden with Rev. Andy Hughes officiating.
