Welton Bailey

Welton Bailey, 92, of Magnolia, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born July 18, 1923 in Nevada County, Arkansas, to William Robert Bailey and Ouida Luck Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sue Martin Bailey. Mr. Bailey worked for 42 years for Berry Petroleum Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII, where he was training to be a fighter pilot when the war ended. Mr. Bailey was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1968 and a volunteer for Magnolia Regional Medical Center for 10 years. He and his wife, Sue, were long time supporters of SAU. He loved being surrounded by family and friends. Survivors include his son, Alan Bailey and, wife Shirley of Rockwall, Texas; two daughters, Connie Hendrixson and Regina Watkins both of Little Rock; two sisters, Mary Jett and Yvonne Murry both of Magnolia; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, October 16, 2015, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, Magnolia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Magnolia with Rev. Larry Kelso officiating. Interment will be in the Willisville Cemetery, Willisville Ark. under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Magnolia. Pallbearers will be nephews. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Magnolia, Southern Arkansas University or the Magnolia Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.
