Brother Otto Jackson Brown died peacefully in his home surrounded by friends and family on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 in Cabot at the age of 82. Otto is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean Brown; children: Becky Blackard and her husband, CB of Cabot, Bobbie Glover and her husband, David of Cabot, Bruce Brown and his wife, Cookie of Searcy; nine grandchildren: Drew and Hope Glover, Daniel and Laura Glover, D. J. and Shelby Glover, Chad Glover, Rachel Glover, Stephanie Glover, Matthew Brown, Michael Brown, and Megan Brown; and five great-grandchildren. Otto is also survived by his sister, LaVerba Hunsicker and her husband, Dave of Houston, Texas and two nieces, as well as a special family, Doyle and Rita Mills and their daughters, April and Amber of West Frankfort, Ill. He is preceded in death by his father, Otto Harrison Brown and mother, Leta Mae Brown of Mt. Vernon, Ill. Otto was born on July 1, 1933 in West Frankfort, Ill. to Otto and Mae Brown. Otto graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1959 with a Master Degree in Divinity. He married Gloria, his college sweetheart, in 1954. He served, pastored and loved congregations in Illinois, Indiana, and Arkansas for over 57 years. His heart for people coming to know the Lord is evident in the many lives that have been changed over those years. He taught his family the importance of loving and serving the Lord and others. He lived out that example every day as he faithfully served the Lord to his last day on this earth to be welcomed into heaven to hear Jesus say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Cabot. A funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21 at the church. Greg Addison, Jason Tallent, Mitch Vickers, and Bruce Brown will officiate the ceremony. Burial will follow at Resthills Memorial Park. All are welcome to attend the celebration of Otto's life.
