Kenneth James "KJ" Carter, 83, of North Little Rock, went to his heavenly home on October 21, 2015. He was born November 13, 1931 in Conway to the late Otis and Lilian Carter. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Korean War and retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad after 38 years of devoted service. He was a kind, gentle and caring man who loved to golf, garden and spend time with family and friends. Kenneth never met a stranger in his life and was blessed with the gift of gab. He was a long time member of Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church in NLR, which held a special place in his heart and where he had many loving friends. He was preceded in death by his loved and cherished wife of 61 years, Jamye Lee Carter and brother-in-law, J.L. Bachus (Nadine) of C alifornia. He is survived by daughter, Brenda Burks (Ronnie) of Maumelle; son, Gary Carter of Maricopa City, Ariz.; grandchildren, Matt Burks (Elisha) of NLR, Whitney Blankenship (Greg) of Sherwood and Karlee and Ryan Carter of Stokesdale, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Braxton and Cannon Burks of NLR; brother-in-law, Dr. Gordon Scott Bachus (Sheryl) of Warrensburg, Mo. and sister-in-law, Jeannie Reffner (Jack) of Sherwood. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Baptist Springhill Medical Center for their loving care, concern and life-saving efforts. A memorial service and celebration of Kenneth's life will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015, at 10 a.m. at Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church in NLR. Interment will be at the Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in NLR at a later date.
