Lt. Col. James R. Stephens (Ret), age 94, of Sherwood, passed away Monday, October 26, 2015, at his home. He was born July 12, 1921, in Corning, Arkansas to James Redman Stephens and Margaret Erven Stephens. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 52 years, Carol Stephens, grandson, Brian Miller and brother, Charles Harris. James retired from the Air Force and served during WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Air Force he was Vice President and Corporate Pilot for Delta Securities Investment Banking and also worked for BEI Electronic. He loved fishing and animals. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Miller and husband Rickey of Sherwood; son, Carl Stephens of Bossier City, Louisiana; sister, Loma Lee Beck of Kalamazoo, Michigan; grandchildren, Matthew Miller of Portland, Oregon, Darren Stephens and Shannon Stephens of Shreveport, Louisiana; sister-in-law, Beverly Harris of Miami, Florida; and three nieces, Pam, Cathy and Sandy. A special thank you to Arkansas Hospice nurses, Lisa, Mary and Rita. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 29, at 10 a.m. at Rest Hills Memorial Park Pavilion, Pastor Roy Thompson officiating.
