Virginia Ruth Marak, 88, of Hot Springs, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 28, 2015. Virginia was born November 18, 1926, in Hot Springs, the youngest of five sisters, to Bernice Griffith Outlaw and Oscar Outlaw. Virginia is survived by her husband of 63 years, Phillip A. Marak; two children, Stephen Marak (wife Cathy) of Springdale, Arkansas, and Cheryl Oliver (husband Jim) of Troutdale, Oregon; two grandchildren, Amanda Lombard-Pindell and Nicholas Oliver of Troutdale, Oregon; four great-grandchildren, Kristina Lombard, Annika Lombard, Connor Lombard, and Alyssa Pindell of Troutdale, Oregon; one sister, Ruby Zacha of Texarkana, Texas; and one niece, Linda Sorrels of Texas City, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Vivian Shaw, Evelyn Sigler, and Edith Clark, and two nephews, Robert Shaw, Jr., and David Sigler. Virginia was a member of Hot Springs Baptist Church, and a long-time Sunday School teacher. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Guardian Angels Cat Rescue or Paws and Claws Rescue in Hot Springs, two no-kill animal shelters Virginia liked and supported. Visitation will be at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home, Thursday evening, September 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and services Friday, September 4 at 1 p.m. at the same location. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Oliver, Nicholas Oliver, Brian Shaw, Tim Pindell, Kenneth Nutt, and Stephen Marak. Guests may register at www.caruth-hale.com.
