Ruth Hall Rogers

Dr. Ruth Hall Rogers, Ph.D, of Conway, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Aug. 30, 2015 at the age of 85 years. She was born in Elmira, N.Y. to Robert and Dorothy Rogers of Pine City, N.Y. Ruth graduated from South Side High School, Southport, N.Y. and Elmira Collage, N.Y. before receiving her Bachelor of Science of Nursing at Columbia University Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City in 1953. She became a public health nurse and supervised the staff at the New York Orthopedic Hospital as a visiting nurse. In 1960, she became a nursing supervisor of the Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. After obtaining a Master's Degree from the school of public health in Minnesota in 1965 and teaching Nursing at the University of Virginia for some years, her love of nursing and education led her to the University of Iowa teaching both graduate and undergraduate nursing students for over 13 years. Dr. Rogers obtained her Ph.D in 1981 from the University Of Iowa, and subsequently moved to Conway as an associate professor of nursing. Dr. Rogers retired in 1995 from UCA to devote time for her aging mother and longtime friend Dr. Betty Martin until they both passed away in 1999. For several years, Dr. Rogers spent time working for her church, First Presbyterian of Conway. She also enjoyed traveling with good friends and reading until her health gave her pause. Survivors include her cousins Ginny Manzer and husband James of Pennington, N.J. and Carol Windham of Martin, Tenn. as well as special friends Bobbie Martin Bennett of Jonesboro, Ark. and Terrie Treadway of Stamps, Ark. along with several friends and church family. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Ulasewich officiating.
