W.O. "Oddie" Camp, Sr.

W.O. "Oddie" Camp, Sr., of Prattsville, Ark., was born Sept. 25, 1920 at Ada Valley, Ark., the son of the late Oscar Franklin and Seenie Ann Young Camp. He was a member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church at Prattsville and served in the United States Army, 455 Division Air Corp. Mr. Camp was retired from Reynold Metals and had also been a barber in Prattsville for many years. He enjoyed collecting and trading coins. Another passion he had was making music with his family. He played the guitar and harmonica and sang with his wife in church. Mr. Camp died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015 at his home in Prattsville at the age of 94. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Velva Huggins Camp; sons, Gary Michael Camp, James Allen "Jim" Camp, and W.O. "Bill" Camp, Jr.; daughter, Elaine Camp Bennings; grandsons, Darrell Smith and Allen Camp; great-grandson, Mark Camp; sisters, Augustine Camp Shaw, Irene Camp Hatfield, Elsie Camp Henry, Edna Camp Young; brothers, Arthur Camp and Woodie Camp; sons-in-law, Howard Lybrand and Bobby Bennings, Sr.. Survivors include his daughters, Betty Lybrand of Gamaliel and Linda Camp of Prattsville; daughter-in-law, Ann Camp of Prattsville; grandchildren: Debbie Watada (Walt), Debbie Monniere (Mike), Tim Camp (Sheila), Johnny Camp (Toni), Barbara Camp, Rick Camp (Debbie), Mystie Camp, Kim Camp McCourt, Mike Smith (Tina), Dana Smith (Neil), Kelly Smith (Katherine), Jennifer King (Stacey), Bob Bennings (Jaqueline), Chris Bennings (Deanna), Mylissa Clift (Tony), Brandon Wright (Lisa), Nathan Wright (Phoebe); 49 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren; numerous other family members and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015 at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Michael Walton officiating. Interment will be in Philadelphia Cemetery at Prattsville. Visitation is Monday, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. His grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
