John (Jack) Edward Davitt, 85, of Jacksonville, passed away at his home on September 9, 2015 after an extended illness. John served in the United States Air Force and was known by all for his helpful heart and sense of humor. He was a very proud member of the Knights of Columbus. John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel Davitt, his children; Diane Mize(Gary), Linda Mize, Janet Yatska (Mike Evans), and Kathryn Davitt, 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, his siblings; Kathryn "Kitty" Wolf and James Davitt. Mass will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church with Father Andy Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Chapel Oaks Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2015 at St Jude The Apostle Catholic Church with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Arrangements by Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home & Crematory, 1504 J.P.
