Gwendolyn Wynon Willis, our beloved Mother and Grandmother went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 4, 2015. She is at peace and with her soulmate and husband, Millard. Wynon was born on February 11, 1938 in a log cabin in Aubrey, TX to Alta and Jerry Phillips. Moving often as a child, her fondest memories were of her maternal grandparents farm on Coffey Road in Aubrey. A child of the Depression, WWII, and a survivor of polio, life wasn't always easy, but she never gave up and instilled that in her children. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson HS in Dallas, Texas, she married her beloved Millard in March of 1959, and they began their lives together in Pitkin, La., eventually settling in Aubrey, where they raised their family. Wynon worked at TWU, the Denton Chamber of Commerce, volunteered time at her church, Midway Baptist, the Aubrey Area Library, her children's school, and eventually retired from UNT in 2003. Upon retirement, Wynon and Millard relocated to Cabot, Ark. We will remember her for many things, including her love of books and knowledge, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, British comedies, Trivial Pursuit, scary movies, and her cooking and baking skills (we will miss her Christmas candies so much). She dedicated her life to her family and was the caregiver to Millard and her mother-in-law, Adrey Willis until their passing. We are better for having her as a Mother and will treasure our memories of her and keep her legacy alive. She is survived by her son, Mike Willis (Joy), daughter, Sharon Dietz (Jeff), grandchildren, Brandon Willis (Sarah), Justin Willis (Taylor), Katie Dietz, Ellie Dietz, sister, Brenda LaVergne, brother, James Taylor, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be Monday, September 14, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday, September 13, from 4-6 p.m. in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 700 N. Second Street, Cabot, Ark. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home & Crematory. Please sign the online guestbook at www.morrescabotfuneralhome.com.
