Spence A. Leamons

Spence A. Leamons, 88, passed away Sept. 11, 2015 in Van Buren. He was born Aug. 12, 1927 in Sparkman, Ark. to Jesse Amos Leamons and Mary Alice (Mann) Leamons. Spence was a Corporate Attorney for Stephens Production and for 26 years he was Chairman of the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission. He was a graduate of Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, and received his law degree from the University of Arkansas Law School. Spence was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, Norman Leamons. Spence is survived by his wife, Louise; two daughters, Charlotte White and Pam Brooks both of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Jess and Adam Shaffer and six great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Services and cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
