Lois Wilson Dilliard, 102, of Hot Springs, Ark., died on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015. She was born on July 30, 1913, in Woodruff County, Ark. to James Granville and Maggie Wilson. Lois was predeceased by her parents and three brothers: Keith, Frazier, and Graham Wilson and her husband, Edward A. Dilliard and one granddaughter, Paige Lancaster. She is survived by four daughters: Frances Lancaster (John), Virginia Garner (Delvis), Mary Cone (Baxter), and Ann Norwood (Kirby); grandchildren, Trey Cone and Katherine Norwood; and two great-grandchildren. Lois graduated from McCrory High School where she excelled in basketball. She and her husband lived in McCrory where she worked for a country doctor, driving him in a Model T Ford when the weather was good and in a horse and buggy when it was muddy. After WWII, they settled in Hot Springs where they raised their four girls. Lois was active in church work, a Girl Scout leader, a room-mother, and a pioneering tailgater for her beloved Hogs. She would haul a hot meal to Fayetteville for a picnic before the Razorback game, long before tailgating was fashionable. Lois was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir until she was 95 years old and was a Life Member of the Presbyterian Women. She also loved to knit baby caps for area hospital newborns. A memorial service to honor her life is not yet scheduled. Guests may register at www.caruth-hale.com.
