Betty McMurry Retherford

Betty McMurry Retherford, 77, Dumas passed away in Pine Bluff, September 16, 2015. She was born March 25, 1938 in Winnsboro, Louisiana, the daughter of the late, John and Lillie Mae Nichols McMurry. Her parents, husband, David Retherford and son, Charles Retherford preceded her in death. Betty was a member of; First Baptist Church in Dumas, Desha County Museum and Delta Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She retired after 42 years as Assistant Superintendent Secretary with the Dumas Public Schools. Survivors are two grandsons, Dustin Retherford of White Hall, Arkansas and John David Retherford of Dumas, Arkansas, two brothers, Tommy McMurry of Minden, Louisiana and James McMurry of Gilbert, Louisiana and three sisters, Linda Waller of Winnsboro, Louisiana, Jean Crain of Columbia, Louisiana and Judy Talley of Minden, Louisiana and one great grandson, Dawson Retherford. Visitation held from 5-7 p.m., September 18th, Griffin Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services, 10 a.m. September 19th, First Baptist Church Dumas with Rev. Dubs Byers officiating.
