John Charles Brooks

John Charles Brooks, 67, passed away on Sept. 16, 2015 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. after an extended illness. He was born on March 10, 1948 in Prairie Grove, Ark. to the late, Dr. Willard Crawford and Mary Bernice (McCormick) Brooks. He was the loving husband of Carolyn (Watson) Brooks. During high school, John lettered in baseball, track, basketball, and football. He was also All State in each of these sports. While attending the University of Arkansas from 1966-1971, he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman, and Razorback fan. John was a member of the Grace Point Church and was a broker at Cooper Communities for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Bella Vista; son, John Crawford Brooks of Bella Vista; two daughters, Ashley Brooks and husband, Tanner Bedwell of Bentonville and Alli Brooks of Little Rock; sister, Treka Vaughn of Gentry; his mother-in-law, Norma Watson of West Siloam, Okla.; sisters-in-law, Barbara Watson, Billie Watson, both of Tulsa, Okla. and Kathy and Jim Sparks of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015 at 3 p.m. in Bentonville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Callison-Lough Funeral Home, Bentonville.
