Edwin "Ed" Clark Wait

Edwin Clark Wait, D.D.S. died on September 20th, 2015 in Rogers Arkansas. Born in Leroy Illinois in 1920, he was the son of Dr. Guy Fillmore and Blanche Burgoyne Wait. He grew up in Mt. Pulaski Illinois where his dad was a practicing dentist. He attended Milliken University in Decatur Illinois then earned his D.D.S. from Northwestern University in Chicago in 1943. He married Arlene Battershell in Pocahontas Iowa in 1944 while serving in the U.S. Army Dental Corp. He served in the Army as a Captain until 1946. After the war they located to Streator Illinois where he practiced dentistry for 26 years. He was very active in the Streator community, serving six years on the school board as well as on the board of directors of the Streator Building and Loan. He and Arlene were members of the Methodist Church, each serving in many capacities. In 1973 he was named to "Who's Who" of prominent dentists in the U.S. He was a member of the American Dental Association for 43 years. Ed and his family loved the water and water sports. In 1972 they relocated near Beaver Lake where he practiced dentistry in Rogers Arkansas until his retirement in 1986. He was a Kiwanian for many years and belonged to the Disciples of Christ church until his death. There he served on many committees as well as being an Elder several times. He was loved and respected for his cheerful attitude and positive outlook on life. Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Arlene, who passed away in 2013. He is survived by son, Dr. Charles Wait and wife Carolyn of Scottsdale Arizona, daughter, Janet Wait Nylund of Dallas Texas, and daughter, Julie Wait Fryauf and husband Mark of Rogers. Grandchildren are: Dr. Laura Baron and husband David, Dr. Melissa DeMore and husband Mike, Dr. Ryan Wait and wife Kyle, and Brandon Wait and fiance' Lauren Wise of Scottsdale Arizona, Dr. Justin Nylund and wife Patricia of Taos New Mexico, Jon Nylund of Dallas Texas, David Fryauf of Santa Cruz California, Matthew Fryauf of San Jose California, Luke Fryauf of Rogers and 12 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday; October 2, 2015 at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 13th and Oak St, Rogers Arkansas. Rev. Shawn Wallace and Rev. Ronny Nowell officiating. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Rogers. Private burial will be in the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
