Gary Lee Alvis

GARY LEE ALVIS, age 75, of Jacksonville passed away on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015. He was born Sept. 28, 1939 in Santa Monica, Calif. to the late William and Mabel Alvis. He was retired from the United States Air Force where he served in the 374th Strategic Missile Squadron. Mr. Alvis was a NASCAR and model train enthusiast. He is survived by his loving wife Sandie Alvis, two sons, Sean Christopher Alvis and his wife Mari Jo of Bradford, Thomas Benjamin Alvis and his wife Elizabeth of Jacksonville, six grandchildren, Grace, Abigail, Keilah, Brooke, Reagan and Connie, siblings, Marilyn Sue Rhea, Susan Robins of California, Robert Alvis of California, mother-in-law Dorothy Poole of Florida, sister-in-laws, Pamela Nelson, Nancy Viau both of Florida, and Robin Abernathy of Georgia. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 29, 2015 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home with a visitation at 1 p.m. until service time.
