Marvin L. Hopper

Marvin L. Hopper, 86, of Hampton, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden. He was born Dec. 25, 1928 in Tinsman, Ark. He was a retired Forestry Technician for International Paper Co. and co-owner of H & C Pulpwood. Marvin also served the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and he was a member of First Baptist Church in Hampton. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard L. Hopper and Lizzie Davis Hopper; wife, Margie Watson Hopper; daughter, Vickie Bowman; son-in-law, Byron Coston; three brothers: Houston Hopper, Wilmer Hopper, Clifton Hopper; and two sisters, Edith Sindle and Zora Hopper. He is survived by two sons, Lynn Hopper and wife, Ruth Ellen of Hooks, Texas, Terry Hopper and wife, Alisa of Monticello; one daughter, Penny Coston of Hampton; one sister, Beatrice Terry of Little Rock; one niece/sister, Jean Lowery of Homer, La.; eight grandchildren: Sandy Sanders of Hampton, Byron "Bub" Coston of Hampton, Lindsey Brasher of Conway, Kaci Hopper of Hooks, Texas, Kara Hopper of Ft. Worth, Texas, Jordan Hopper, Austin Hopper, and Morgan Hopper, all of Monticello; six great grandchildren: Ashlyn, Kassidy, Edward, Victoria, Jayden, and Jasmine. Memorials may be made to the Calhoun County Library. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Hampton. Visitation will also be Wednesday, 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Hampton. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Hampton with Dr. David Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Earnest Cemetery in Tinsman.
