Herman David Keener, age 69, went on his next adventure on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Beverly (Humphrey) Keener of Russellville; his son Michael, and wife Laura (Tharel) Keener, and their two children, Will & Emme Keener of Fort Smith; his daughter Mandy Keener and her fiance', Joe Warren of Little Rock; his brother Donnie Keener and wife Sharon, and their daughter Melanie of Russellville; his sister Avona (Keener) Kasselman and husband, Monty, their children Misti and Jeremy; mother-in-law, Marcie Horn; and several great-nieces and nephews; countless friends and faithful employees of Keener Construction Company. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Floy Keener of Pottsville and a nephew, William Brent Keener of Little Rock. David was born on January 10, 1947 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville at a cost of $110. He was a 1965 graduate of Pottsville High School and he attended Arkansas Tech University and served in the Arkansas Army National Guard during the Vietnam War. He married Beverly (Humphrey) Keener November 21, 1969 in Russellville. Together they founded Keener Construction Company in 1972, which he continued to run as his business and his hobby for 44 years. He was a past president of the Arkansas Home Builders Association and a former member of the City Corp. Board of Directors. David took his family and friends on numerous adventures and loved his road trips, whether by car or in his motor home, to the casino or various states across the country. He loved going out to dinner with family and close friends, and he will be missed by his friends at the Old South for breakfast on Saturdays. He loved surprising people and helping others; nothing was ever too big or too small. David enjoyed outings to Atwood's and Leonard's with his grandson, Will, and working on numerous house projects with his daughter Mandy. David passed on his zeal for life to his two children, Mandy and Michael, of whose decisions he was very proud. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pottsville. David contributed to the development of his community through the construction of many buildings, his leadership and by contributing generously to many worthwhile endeavors. He will be remembered for living a life that embodied the American dream. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Russellville. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2016, at Humphrey Funeral Service in Russellville. Burial will be private at Rest Haven Memorial Park. Pallbearer will be Jim Ed Gibson, Garland Steuber, Bill Srygley, Jim Lieblong, Bobby Joe Taylor, Barre Shannon, Alex Streett, Gordon Shirron. Honorary pallbearers will be, Randy Leavell, Norman Watson, Ward Ramsey, Charles McIllwain, Jay Hefner, David Feild, Jim Bob Humphrey, and employees of Keener Construction Company.
