William J. "Bill" Putnam

William J. "Bill" Putnam, age 71, of Yellville passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 in the Arkansas Heart Hospital In Little Rock, Arkansas. Bill was born in Pocatello, Idaho on June the 14th, 1944. He was the son of the late Edward and Katherine Mae (Merrill) Putnam. Bill graduated from Arco High School in 1962 and attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. Bill then served his country in the United States Army. On June 12, 1969, Bill married Jan Kay Watkins in Marion County, Arkansas. Bill served his community previously on the Marion County Fair Board and Marion County Soil Conservation Board, and was currently on the Yellville Housing Authority Board. He retired from Eaton Corporation in 2008. Bill enjoyed Amateur Ham Radios, spending time with his wife, Jana, friends, his grandchildren, watching the Arkansas Razorbacks with his boys, fishing, camping and just living life to its fullest. He is survived by: his wife Jana (Watkins) Putnam of Yellville, Arkansas; two sons: Matt Putnam of Yellville, Arkansas and Myron Putnam and his wife; Stephanie of Maumelle, Ark.; one sister: Merilyn Key of Henderson, Nevada. Bill is also survived by two grandchildren: Gavin and Gabriele Putnam. Bill is also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, and two sisters; Joyce Svendsen and Jean Welch Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Burns Funeral Home in Yellville from 6-8 pm. Graveside services will be at the Layton Cemetery in Yellville, Arkansas on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 11 a.m.
