Betty was many things during her life. She was a woman of great faith who established a home for her family wherever she was planted. She always immersed herself in local history and was an accomplished tour guide to lucky visitors. A consummate hostess, she could prepare a multi-course gourmet meal at the drop of a hat. A breast cancer survivor, she was active in promoting awareness and in assisting others who faced the disease. She was a cheerleader, artist, Tennessee Wesleyan yearbook editor, Toastmistress, director of plays, Vacation Bible School teacher, Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout leader, Junior Auxiliary officer, member of the Major Jacob Gray Chapter NSDAR, member of the United Methodist Women Mary Martha Circle, member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class, prayer warrior in the Prayer and Praise group, devoted Daughter-Sister-Wife-Mother-Dodo (grandmother), and great-grandmother. In her lifetime, she survived waiting the returns of both her husband and son when they were POW's. She leapt into action when a granddaughter was kidnapped. Known for her quick-wit and keen knowledge base, she was a joy to be near. The family wishes to thank Dr. Storeygard for years of care, Fox Ridge for attempts to make her feel at home, BMC ER & ICU staff, and Arkansas Hospice. Extra special thanks to her devoted caregiver, Dawn (Michael) Earnest without whom Betty's life would have been more limited. A very special thanks to the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville, Arkansas for being her heavenly home on earth.
