Danny D. Guffey of North Little Rock, 72, passed away early Thursday morning, April 21, 2016. He was born to J.T. and Luvina Guffey in Little Rock, Arkansas on December 24, 1943. Danny excelled in football at Fourth Street Jr. High. His last game of the season he made a 96 yard touchdown in 1959. At the time that was the longest touchdown by any Jr. High School and he held the record for many years. He lettered in football and was also the captain of the football team. He was an owner-operator truck driver for many years and then retired as an over the road driver for ABF, having over two million miles "accident free". Danny had a great love for motorcycles. At the age of 14 while delivering medicine for Economy drugstore at 4th & Main, he bought his first Cushman Eagle motor scooter and ended up having numerous motorcycles all thru out his life. He married the love of his life Maxine Barker on July 12, 1960 and they were married over 55 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Robert and Jerry Guffey. He is survived by his wife; Maxine Guffey; two daughters: Julie Guffey Permenter (Matt), Cindy Jo Guffey Ray; two sons: Danny Alan Guffey (Lesa), Harvey Dean Guffey, along with 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all whom he loved dearly. Funeral Service for Danny Guffey will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Arkansas (501) 791-7400. Interment at Quattlebaum Cemetery, Bee Branch, Arkansas to follow at 4 p.m. Visitation is at 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the funeral home. Family asks that you come dressed comfortably.
