FRANCES "SOOKIE" IRENE MATTINSON of Mabelvale, formerly of Hamburg, died March 31 at home. Born Dec. 4, 1954 to Milo Clyde and Elizabeth Ann Bankston Mattinson, she attended Parkview High School and served in the United States Marine Corps 1976-1982. Among her travels with the Marines she enjoyed the Panama Canal the most. She was a lover of all animals especially dogs. She had many throughout her life taking in any stray that came along. She enjoyed fishing, camping, old movies and Patsy Cline. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Barry Clyde Mattinson and grandparents, Vernon Edgar and Frances Daniel Bankston, Mercil Bankston, Ray Mattinson and Bessie Irene Brown Mattinson Dailey. She is survived by her loving partner of 19 years, Debbie Sue Russell and her sister Milo Dianne Mattinson and special friend Richard Butler. Thanks to her many doctors and nurses at UAMS and her team at Arkansas Hospice. Memorial service will be at 3 p.m. April 30 at Open Door Community Church, 709 W. Lee Ave., in Sherwood with Pastor Randy Eddy-McCain officiating. A life celebration will follow until 5:30 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Arkansas Cremation.
