James David Blair

James "David" Blair's life on this earth was completed Saturday, April 23, 2016. He took his final flight to be with our Heavenly Father surrounded by family and friends in his Cabot home. David was born in Lake Providence, La., on July 10, 1954, to parents James Bryant and Frankie Farrow Blair. He and his family relocated to Jonesboro, Ark., shortly after his birth. David graduated in 1972 from Jonesboro High School and attended ASU Jonesboro for two years. David began his police career in Monette, Ark., in 1975. He also served with the Newport Police Department, Jacksonville Police Department, and Pulaski County Sheriff's Office before being hired at LRPD on February 11, 1985. During his employment with LRPD, David worked in many departments: patrol downtown, northwest and southwest, FTO, driving instructor, detective in larceny & burglary, crime analysis, LR Airport, and the Aviation Unit (helicopters). On January 10, 2010, David retired from the LRPD with the rank of Sergeant. His most memorable experience was training with the Tulsa Aviation Units and standing out on the helicopter skids flying over Tulsa. David was also a private pilot. He enjoyed taking family, co-workers, and friends flying and also working with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. David was preceded in death by his father, James Bryant Blair. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sherry Ahart Blair, from Newport, Ark. They have three children; Tammy Spann (Charles), Wade Blair, and Faith Ealy (Cody), as well as, five grandchildren; Blake Spann, Cayla Spann, Brianna Blair, Savannah Blair and Caden Spann. He was followed by his precious companion Tinkerbell. Also surviving are his mother, Frankie Farrow Blair Loyd of Brookland; sisters Pat Kimble (Mickey) of Jonesboro and Sharron Melton (James) of Paragould; niece, Tina Latimer (Mitch) and their children, Christian and Natalie Niell of Beebe, and nephew, Brian Parnell of Jonesboro; and father/mother-in-law, Byrum and Joyce Ahart of Cabot, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He was also loved and cared for by Jamie Allen-Abbott. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Little Rock Police Department. Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 4 p.m. at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. Family will receive friends beginning at 3 p.m., prior to the service.
