Mary Helm Cyphers of 1219 West Main St., El Dorado, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 24, 2016. She was born August 29, 1923, in Glenmoria, Louisiana. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Dr. William Dale Cyphers, III.; her son, William Dale Cyphers IV, and his wife, Lucy of Camden, Ark.; daughter-in-law, Pam Swick Cyphers of Little Rock, Ark.; five grandchildren, Brooke Cyphers Hicks (Tim) of Little Rock, Ark., Brian Swick Cyphers (Jessica) of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Lucy Amber Cyphers of Fayetteville Ark., Dr. Leah Cyphers Youngblood (Jim) of Camden, Ark., and Staff Sgt. William Dale Cyphers, V of Panama City, Fla.; three great grandchildren, Eli Douglas Hicks, Hudson Timothy Hicks, and Harper Elizabeth Hicks of Little Rock, Ark.; her sister, Eloise Helm Bailey of Mooresville, N.C.; and two sister-in-laws, Ella Wolf Helm of Monticello, Ark., and T.K. Helm of Palatine, Ill. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leona Rimmer Helm and Samuel Elva Helm of Crossett; her two brothers, Samuel Elva Helm of Marietta, Ga., John L. Helm of Dallas, Texas; he son, Mark Helm Cyphers; and daughter, Beverly Ann Cyphers both of El Dorado, Ark. She has been a resident of El Dorado, Ark., since 1953 where she was a homemaker. She was a 1941 graduate of Crossett High School, attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville GA, and attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she was a Kappa Kappa Gamma. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church where she served on the Alter Guild, taught a Sunday School class, and was a member of the prayer group. She was a member of the Y.W.C.A. Board of Directors where she served as chairman of the Swimming Pool committee from 1955-1957. She was a member of the El Dorado Charity League and the Robert Rosamond Chapter of DAR. She was a member of Bible Study Fellowship where she served in the Children's Department for five years. The family extends special appreciation to Denise Lumsey and Shirley Gray. Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Young's Funeral Directors. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016, St. Mary's Episcopal Church under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 512 Champagnolle Rd., El Dorado, Ark. 71730, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
