George Wayne Rutherford

George Wayne Rutherford, 84, of Judsonia, passed away April 25, 2016 at Oakdale Nursing Home. He was born December 31, 1931 at Plainview, Arkansas to the late George and Thelma Poindexter Rutherford. Mr. Rutherford graduated from Judsonia High School in 1950, then went on to retire from the United States Air Force with 30 years of service. He then received his Bachelor's Degree from ASU-Jonesboro and taught computer classes in Little Rock. He was a member of Judsonia First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, choir member and taught Sunday school classes for many years. In his past time, he enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. He married Sue Bennett Rutherford June 24, 1953 at Des Plains, Ill.; she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Michael Rutherford (Kathy) of Houston, Texas and Mark Rutherford (Chris) of Bay, Arkansas; and two grandchildren, Becca and Josiah Rutherford. The family will have a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30 at Judsonia First Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. in the old fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers make lasting memorials to First Baptist Church of Judsonia. Services have been entrusted to Sullivan Funeral Care of Kensett.
