Marilyn Mabel Anderson, 94, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, died April 22, 2016 at Clinton, Tennessee. Born on July 21, 1921 in Story City, Iowa, she was the older daughter of Stanton C.A. and Mabel Christenson James. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Vernon A. Anderson, and her sister, Elaine McDonald. Marilyn graduated from Story City High School and Miss Woods Kindergarten and Primary Training School in Minneapolis, Minn., taught kindergarten in Minnesota and Iowa and was supervisor of a Lanham Act Nursery School in Vancouver, Washington, during World War II. After moving to Fayetteville in 1951, Marilyn taught at the Brown Kindergarten and the Fayetteville Creative School. She was a 75 year member of P.E.O. and a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, where she worked in the Sunday School, sang in the Chancel Choir and served as an Elder and on numerous committees. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her children and their spouses, Marita and Wm. R. Pratt of LaFollette, Tenn., Lyndall Soden of Englishtown, N.J., Mark S. and Linda Anderson of Cimarron, N.M., five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. There will be no public visitation. Private interment will be at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church, 695 Calvin St., Fayetteville, Ark. 72703; The Veterans Memorial Flagpole Fund, Philmont Scout Ranch, 17 Deer Run Road, Cimarron, N.M. 87714; a favorite charity.
