Dorothy Jean Key, age 86, of Malvern, died Friday evening, July 29, 2016 in the Baptist Health Medical Center in Malvern. She was born in Magnet Cove, Ark. on Aug. 26, 1929 to the late L. C. Dammann and Mae Hickman Dammann. Reared and educated at Magnet Cove and Butterfield, she was a lifelong resident of this area. She was the widow of the late Elgin Calvin Key, to whom she was married on April 1, 1948 in Malvern. He preceded her in death in 1999. As a youth, she attended Butterfield Methodist Church. She loved to garden, work in her yard, and to grow flowers. She is survived by a son, Ronald C. "Ron" Key and his wife, Dyan of Magnet Cove; sons-in-law, Richard Smith and Charlie Lee; three sisters: Marlin Lea Beauchamp of Huntsville, Ark., Patsy Smith and her husband, Dave of Clinton, Ark., and Mary Sue Knorr of Sacramento, Calif.; sister-in-law, Carolyn Dammann; eight grandchildren: Danny King, Randy Key, Sandy Cagle, Mandy Key, Ronnie Key, Jr., Loretta Key, Jessica Peeks (Tony), and Jacob Smith; and by 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Key was also preceded in death by her children: Michael E. Key, Judy C. Smith, and Pamela Lee; two sisters, Gertrude Rand and Inez Cranford; and two brothers, Wayne Dammann and Richard Dammann. A graveside service will be held at three o'clock, Monday afternoon, Aug. 1, 2016 at Resthaven Cemetery with Brother Charlie Williams officiating. Pallbearers will be: Dave Smith, Bill Robinson, James Stiles, Richard Smith, Timmy Dammann, Mike Rice, and Charlie Lee. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
