Don Hollingsworth

Lieutenant Don Hollingsworth, age 50, of Warren, Ark. died Monday, August 1st at St. Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. He was born May 27th, 1966 in Warren, Ark. a son of Linda Parrott Hollingsworth, Warren, Ark. and the late Donald Hollingsworth. Don was a 20 plus year employee with the Warren Police Department serving as criminal investigator and assistant chief of police. Don began his career with the department under Chief Dale Stuard as jailor in January 1996 and he graduated the Arkansas Law Enforcement Academy in 1997, he advanced in his responsibilities completing the Law enforcement training academy and received his level 4 certified advanced law enforcement certificate in 2013. Don was a second generation law enforcement officer, he achieved many certifications during his tenure with Warren Police Department where his grandfather Milton Parrot also served, he was a professional police instructor, firearms instructor, traffic and radar instructor. He achieved a level one certification from the Arkansas Crime information center, training in arson detection, racial profiling and gang violence. Don maintained the continuing education for the police department staff and wrote many of the policies that are followed today. He was very proud of his DEA certification in Drug enforcement and received the outstanding certificate of appreciation for his work from the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency. He was honored to serve under Chief Dale Stuard, Chief Randy Peek and Chief Shawn Hildrith. Don was a founding member of the Church Unlimited, he loved his work, his church, his family and his service to the YMCA, where he coached tackle football, he served on the Y board of directors and sports committee and he totally believed in the Y and what impact it has on the kids. He was a graduate of Warren High School class of 1984 and Don had a belief he lived by "right is right and if no one is right, wrong is wrong and everybody is wrong." Don loved his service to the Warren Police Department and the City of Warren where he grew up. Also preceding him in death was his grandparents Milton and Eunice Parrott and J.L. and Mistle Hollingsworth. He is survived by his wife whom he married February 25th, 1989 Paula Gambill Hollingsworth; two sons, Justin Hollingsworth, Warren, Ark. and Samuel Hollingsworth, Warren, Ark.; a brother, Thomas Hollingsworth, Warren, Ark.; three brothers-in-law, Terry Gambill and spouse Kim, Bryant, Ark., Gary Gambill and spouse Kerry, Warren, Ark., and Richard Gambill and spouse Maribeth, Bastrop, La.; his father and mother-in-law, Sheriff Jack Gambill and spouse Wanda, Warren, Ark.; four nieces, Jessica Griffin, Lyndsey Gambill, Sydney Gambill and Gabi Gambill and a nephew Kyle Gambill; one great-niece and great nephew; two special friends Teresa Reep Sandine and Angela Reep Wyatt. Funeral services 2 p.m. Saturday, August 6th at Frazer's Funeral Home. Burial in Union Cemetery at Rye. Visitation 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. Friday, August 5th at Frazer's Funeral Home.
