Mona Lynn Cornwell

Mona Lynn Cornwell, 62, of La Grange, IL, died suddenly on July 4, 2016. She was born on March 30, 1954 in Fayetteville, AR to the late James Oliver Cornwell and Mary Romona Locknar Cornwell. Mona received her early education in Pine Bluff, Ark., attending Annunciation Academy and graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1972. She attended UALR and was a histotechnologist. She had been employed most recently as a senior research laboratory technologist and supervisor at NorthShore University Research Institute in Chicago. Survivors include her two sisters, Melissa Marie Cornwell of Seattle, Wash., and Stephanie Rome Owen of Woodbury, Minn. (Herbert); two brothers, Dr. James David Cornwell of Mount Vernon, Washington (Olivia), and Gregory Charles Cornwell Sr. of Houma, La.; two nieces, Kathryn Elizabeth Owen (Benjamin Urick) and Rebekah Lynne Owen; and two nephews, Gregory Charles Cornwell Jr. and Justin Lee Feezell. She also leaves a host of friends to whom she was devoted, most especially Hank Anthony. The family will receive friends at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home in Pine Bluff on Saturday, August 6th from 1-3 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at Robinson's with Father Joseph Marconi officiating. Interment will be private. Memorials are requested to The Mona Cornwell Research Scholarship which has been established to recognize her significant teaching contributions to student researchers considering scientific and medical careers.
