Jania Marion Oates

Jania Marion Oates began her heavenly celebration on August 7, 2016. She was born to Jack and Eva Mott Harrison on September 18, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Junior and the love of her life: Franklin Thomas Oates. She practiced as a Registered Nurse until retirement at age 67, the last 30 years as a school nurse. She was a member of Lepanto First Baptist Church and active in her community as a volunteer for the museum, library and voting polls. Jania was a state flower show judge and owner of House of Flowers. She was recognized by the African American Community on Martin Luther King Day and served as a Grand Marshal of the Christmas parade. Jania is survived by three loving daughters: Melissa Ennis (Rex) of Conway, Melinda Hannah of Lepanto and Sandy Scidmore (Noel) of Springdale, five grandchildren: Misty Mashburn (James) of Orlando, Florida, Tanya Mims (Seth) of Springdale, Tri Herndon of Lepanto, Amanda Mhoon (Blue) of Fayetteville and Frank Hannah (Katie) of Fayetteville, siblings: Bobby Harrison of Nacogdoches, Texas, Shirley McClelland of San Antonio, Texas and Mary Frances Mixon (Neil) of Marion, Texas and friend: Devita Stone. A celebration of Jania's life will be held at First Baptist Church in Lepanto on August 13, 2016 visitation at 10 a.m. and funeral service at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice. Murphy Funeral Home in Lepanto in charge of arrangements.
